How We Met

Brandon and Laura were friends since they worked in the high school newspaper together. He was a photo editor even back then, and she was a feature writer. They spent time together mostly outside the newspaper club, though, and kept in touch over the years, up until 2020, when they started dating.

“Brandon slid into my DMs with 🔥 emojis and pretty soon, he was on an entirely empty plane to visit me in NYC. No one was coming to New York then, it was COVID. The day he moved in, he showed up with ‘100 roses for 100 years’ and took me to Chinatown to get a gold ring. I still wear that ring everyday.”

The Proposal

We went out a French restaurant and then took a walk around our old neighborhood, stopping by our childhood homes, our old high school, and then finally, a park, where he got on one knee and proposed.

Laura was so excited that she woke up the next day with what she thought was appendicitis and went straight to the ER. Turns out that she just had butterflies in her stomach – and too much French food.

“I’m old enough to remember back to simpler, more innocent times when the worst thing you’d hear on the news was hijacked jetliners flying into buildings.”
